Pro Tem Speaker

-Pro-tem speaker is the speaker who presides over the first sitting of the newly elected Lok Sabha or State Legislative Assemblies.

-Pro-tem speaker is appointed (administer oath) by the President for Lok Sabha assemblies and for State assemblies & UT by Governor and LG.

His main duty is to administer oath to the newly elected members

He also enables the house to elect the new speaker.

When the new speaker is elected by the house, the office of the speaker pro-tem ceases to exist.
