Judicial powers of the President
Judicial powers of the President:
-The President appoints the Chief Justice of India
-He also appoints Supreme Court and High Court judges on the advice of the Chief Justice.
-He can remove the judges mentioned above if the two hoses of the Parliament pass a resolutions by special majority for "proved misbehavior and incapacity"
-President may seek advisory opinion from the Supreme Court on any question of law or fact.
-However, the advice given by the Supreme Court is not binding on the President.
-He/she has the right to grant pardon, suspend, remit or commute the death sentence of any person.
-He/she enjoys the judicial immunity:
-No criminal proceedings can be initiated against him/her during his term in office.
-He/she is not answerable for the exercise of his/her duties.
