Drafting Committee of Constituent Assembly:

- It was set up on 29 August 1947.
- It consisted of 7 members :
1. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar
2. Dr. K.M. Munshi
3. N. Gopalswamy Ayyangar
4. Alladi Krishnaswamy Ayyar
5. Syed Mohammad Saadullah
6. N Madhava Rau (He repalced B. L. Mitter who resigned due to ill health)
7. T.T. Krisnamachari (He replaced D. P. Khaitan who died in 1948)

- Finally on 26 November 1949, The constitution of India was adopted with 395 Articles and 8 Schedules.
- But its enforcement started from 26th January 1950.
- January 26 was chosen because on this day in 1930 the Purna Swaraj day was celebrated.
- The Preamble was enacted after the entire constitution was already enacted.
