Appointment, Term and Removal of CAG

Appointment:

The Comptroller and Auditor-General of India is appointed by the President of India following a recommendation by the Prime Minister. On appointment, he/she has to make an oath or affirmation before the President of India.

Term:

He holds the office for a period of six years or upto the age of 65 years.

Removal:

The CAG shall only be removed from office in like manner and on the like grounds as a judge of the Supreme Court.
