Appointment of State Human Rights Commission - Chairman and Members:

The Chairperson and members of the SHRC are appointed by the Governor of State, on the recommendation of a committee consisting of:

-The Chief Minister (chairperson)

-The State Home Minister

-The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative assembly

-The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council

-The Speaker of the Legislative assembly

-The Chairman of the Legislative Council

-Further a sitting judge of a High Court or a sitting District Court Judge can be appointed only after consultation with Chief Justice of High Court of the concerned state.
