Political Organizations of Later Vedic Period:

-Many Janas or tribes amalgamated to form 'Rashtras' or 'Janapadas' (territorial kingdoms)

-For example the Bharatas and Puras came together to become the Kuru tribe, who allied with the Panchalas occupied the whole of Western Uttar Pradesh.

-Rituals, Ceremonies & Sacrifices began to be associated with the kingship which also became hereditary. eg: Rajasuya Coronation ceremony.

-Different nomenclature began to be applied to kings at various regions:-
Samrat - Eastern kings
Svarat - Western kings
Virat - Northern kings
Bhoja - Southern kings
Raja - Middle Kingdom

-The administration & governance of the territories became more complex & various officials came into being eg.

Bhagadugha - Collector of taxes.
Sangrahitri - Treasurer
Suta - Court Minster / Chronicler
Sthapati - Provincial administrator
Adhikrta - Village Officer

-The king's political functionaries began to be called as Ratnins & there was a ceremony earmarked for them called 'Ratnahavimsi'
