Jahangir (1605-1627)
Jahangir (1605-1627):
-He was son of Jodha bai & Akbar.
-He ascended to the throne at Agra in 1605.
-The fifth Sikh Guru, Arjun Singh was executed for supporting his son Khusrau (who revolted against his father).
-In 1611 A.D, he married Mehrunnisa and gave her the tittle of 'Nurmahal' and later Nurjahan.
In 1613 A.D, She was called Padshah Begum.
-During Jahangir reign Malik Ambar was successful in capturing Ahmadnagar from the Mughals.
-The Britishers landed in Machilipatnam during his reign.
-His Court was visited by Captain Hawkins & Sir Thomas Roe (1615-1619).
