Gurjara - Pratihara Dynasty
Gurjara - Pratihara Dynasty:
-Founded by Nagabhatta I
-Belonged to Rajput and Gujaras nomads of Central Asian tribes.
-The Tripartite struggle between Pratiharas, Rashtrakutas and palas began during Vatsaraja's reign.
-Vatsaraja defeated Dharmapala of Bengal but was defeated by Dhruva of Rashtrakutas.
-Gurjara - Pratihara exploits are recorded in the Gwalior inscription.
-The Pratihara power reached glory under Bhoja I or Mihira Bhoja.
-Bhoja I expansions were checked by Sankarvarman of Kashmir, Rashtrakuta's Krishna II and Devapala.
-Bhoja I was a devotee of Vishnu & adopted the title, 'Adivaraha'.
-Sulaiman, the Arab traveller visited the Bhoja I kingdom.
-Yashpala was the last ruler of the dynasty.
