Buddhism:

-Buddhism has its foundation on three pillars:-

--Gautama Buddha - founder
--Dhamma - Principle
--Sangha - Order of Buddhist Monks & Nuns

-Siddhartha or the Gautama also "Tathagata' & 'Sakyamuni' was born in 563 B.C. in Lumbini, near Kapilavastu, the capital of Sakyan Republic, to Suddhodana & Maya.

-He Was brought up by his stepmother Gautami.

-He Married to Yashodhara & had a son, Rahula.

-Left home at 29 accompanied by Channa (Charioteer), his favourite horse (Karsthaka), after being disturbed by the sight of an old man, a sick man and a dead body.

-As a wandering as a ascetic, he meditated with two Brahmin religious teachers - Alarakalama and Udraka Ramputra. And then with ascetic like kondana, Vappa, Mahanama, etc.

-At the age of 35, on Vaisakha Purnima day, he attained Enlightenment & came to be called as 'Buddha' (The Enlightened One).

-Gave his first sermon at Isipatana (Sarnath) in a Deer Park & hence began his religious discourses (Dhannachakrapravartana) which continued for the next 45 years.

-He died at 80 in 483 B.C at Kushinagara (modem Kasi in U.P), thus attaining 'Parinirvana'.
