Akbar (1556-1605):
-Akbar son of Humayun, born at Amarkot in 1542 A.D.
-After Humayun's death, Bairam Khan coronated Akbar as the Sultan and himself became his regent.
-1556-1560 A.D. was known as Bairam Khan's regency, who led the Mughal army to victory in the second Battle of Panipat (1556) against Hemu, the wazir of Muhammad Adil Shah of Bihar.
-In 1560 A.D, Akbar married Bairam Khan's widow.
-In 1562 A.D, Akbar married Jodha Bai (daughter of Raja Bharmal) on his first pilgrimage to the Shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer.
-Akbar fought and won many battles and his last battle was Asirgarh in 1601.
-Abdur Rahim, son of Akbar & Bairam Khan's widow, was given the title of Khan-i-Khana after the Suppression of revolt at Gujarat
-Liberal Measures of Akbar were:
--In 1563 A.D, he abolished the pilgrim tax.
--In 1564 A.D. he abolished Jazia
-Religious Measures of Akbar were:
-In 1575 A.D, constructed the Ibadat Khana (Hall of Worship).
-In 1578 A.D, he converted the Ibadat Khana into a 'Parliament of Religions' where religious discussions were held.
-In 1582 A.D, discussions in Ibadat Khana were closed and created a new faith "Din i ilahi" (faith of the divine).
-The basic purpose of this order was to create 'Sulh-i-kul', which means universal harmony.
-Akbar died of dysentery in 1605 A.D.
