Swavalamban Abhiyan Launched for Pro-Poor Initiatives

- 'Swavalamban Abhiyan' which includes a set of 11 new pro-poor initiatives of the Gujarat Government was launched by th~ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
- This abhiyan includes pro-poor initiatives for the benefit of shramyog is, especially women and youth, so that they are
empowered to fight poverty.
- While launching the 'Swavalamban Abhiyan' on the Vishwakarma Day, Prime Minister mentioned three things which are important for the shramyogi : self-reliance (swavalamban), self-independence (swashray) and self-dignity (swabhimaan).
- The schemes launched include support to tribal women engaged in cattle rearing for milch animals and dairy equipment, financial assistance to women-run milk cooperatives for purchase of milking machine and shaft cutter, health care support for family with income less than Rs. 1.2 lakb, financial support to build food grain storage facility in fields of farmers, tablet computers for ITI students enrolled for computer course, initial support for ITI passout for starting their own businesses, health care and housing support for construction workers and his family and setting up of employment related services through employment exchange bureau.
