Social Security Pilot Scheme for Labours of Unorganised Sector
- On January 23, 2004 (i.e., on birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose) the government has inaugurated a new pilot scheme named as Social Security Pilot Scheme for the welfare of labours of unorganised sector.
- This scheme was approved by the cabinet on January 7,2004.
- This pilot scheme will be introduced in 50 selected district and run through Employees Provident Fund Organisation.
- This scheme will ensure various facilities of family pension, insurance and medical to labours of unorganised sector.
- This pilot scheme is a part of proposed unorganised Sector Workers Bill. About 37 crore workers will be benefited after the approval of this bill.
- Under this scheme labour of age group 18-35 years has to contribute Rs. 50 per month while Rs. 100 per labour per month will be contributed by the employer.
- For the age group of 36-50. These amounts will be Rs. 100 lakh and Rs. 200 respectively.
