Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA)

- Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas Programme (DWCRA) was started in September 982 in the form pf a sub-plan of Integrated Rural Development Programme.
- At present this DWCRA programme is not in existence because it is merged with newly introduced programme Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana w.e.f. April 1, 1999.
- The main aim of this programme was to provide proper self-employment opportunities to the women of those rural families who are living below the poverty line, so that their social and economic standard could be improved.
- Under this programme, the policy of making a group of 10-15 women was adopted corresponding to the local resources, their own choices and skills to complete the economic activities
