Supply of Improved Tool Kits to Rural Artisans (SITRA)

- To supply modem tools to the rural artisans is also a part of IRDP.
- Since July 1992, this scheme was started in some of the selected districts in the form of Central supported plan but later on this scheme was extended to all over the country.
- At present this scheme is not in existence because it has been merged with Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana w.e.f. April 1, 1999.
- The main objective of this plan was to make the rural artisans (except weavers, tailors, embroiders and tobacco workers etc.) technically capable of improving the quality of their products and increasing their produuction and income with the help of modern tools.
