- Self-Employment to the Educated Unemployed Youth Programme was started by the Government of India during 1983-84.
- Under this scheme, such educated unemployed youth (Matric or above education) having age limit between 18-35 years and also having annual family income below rupees 10,000 were eligible for obtaining loan, including 25% capital subsidy given by the Central Government.
- Under the scheme, eligible entrepreneurs were provided a composite debt of maximum Rs. 35,000 for their industrial enterprises.
- For commercial and service enterprises this amount was fixed to be Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively. 30% of the total sanctioned amount was reserved for SC/ST in this programme.
