Drought- Prone Area Programme (DPAP)

- This National Programme was launched in 1973-74 in some selected Drought Prone Areas of the country
- The main objective of this plan was to reestablish the environmental balance in these areas by promoting the balanced development of land, water and other natural resources.
- For this programme, the arrangement of the finance is done by the Centre and the State concerned in the ratio of 75 : 25.
- Presently 972 blocks of 182 districts in 16 states are covered under the programme.
- This programme is being carried on by the Rural Development Department.
